FOR REVIEW…HERE ARE THE FIREARM LIFE SAFETY RULES:
Safe gun handling is something that we need to constantly be aware of. This shooting doesn’t happen if the officer doesn’t have his finger on the trigger and has a depressed muzzle (position “sul”).
It is a little surprising there is no discipline to the officer who shot his partner. This tells me there may me be a larger department wide training issue that needs to be addressed. The department would have a difficult time disciplining the officer when they don’t train their officers on a regular basis, which happens more than the public knows.
